Shreyanka Patil Suffers Ankle Injury During Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Match Against Netherlands

Laser247 brings you the latest update from the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.

India’s star all-rounder Shreyanka Patil suffered a painful ankle injury during India’s match against the Netherlands in Leeds on Wednesday. The incident happened while she was bowling her first over of the game.

On the first ball of the sixth over, Netherlands batter Phebe Molkenboer played the ball towards the leg side. Shreyanka quickly ran to stop an easy single, but while bending down to pick up the ball and turn, she twisted her right ankle badly and fell on the ground.

The Indian player looked in severe pain and immediately held her ankle. Team physios rushed onto the field to check her condition. When Shreyanka tried to stand up, she was unable to put weight on her right leg. After receiving medical attention, she was stretchered off the field and taken for scans.

Laser247 understands that this injury has come at an unfortunate time for Shreyanka, who has already faced several injury setbacks over the last two years.

After Shreyanka left the field, Shafali Verma completed the over, while Radha Yadav came in as her replacement.

Shreyanka had spent a long period away from cricket due to injuries in 2024 and 2025. She first suffered a finger fracture in July 2024, followed by shin splints in both legs and a stress-related wrist injury. She finally returned to full fitness in September 2025 and went on to play for Barbados Royals in the Women’s CPL and later represented RCB in the WPL earlier this year.

This match was India’s second league game in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. India started their campaign with a win against Pakistan in Birmingham. Their upcoming matches are against South Africa on June 21 and Bangladesh on June 25 in Manchester. India will then face Australia in their final league-stage match on June 28 at Lord’s.

Fans will now be waiting for the scan reports and hoping that Shreyanka Patil recovers quickly and returns to action soon in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Laser247 will continue to bring you the latest updates from the tournament.
